學歷與早期成就
何崇志於加拿大英屬哥倫比亞大學(UBC)獲取音樂藝術博士學位,期間在多項比賽中屢獲殊榮,包括1987年的PROCAN作曲比賽及1988年的CAPAC作曲比賽。

 

電影音樂與榮譽
何氏在電影配樂方面亦有傑出成就。他為電影《麥兜故事》創作的配樂榮獲第21屆香港電影金像獎最佳原創電影音樂,其後又為《麥兜菠蘿油王子》、《春田花花同學會》、《麥兜响噹噹》及《麥兜.飯寶奇兵》等多部電影創作配樂。其中,《麥兜.我和我媽媽》於2015年金馬獎獲得最佳動畫長片殊榮。此外,其大型合唱作品《宇宙的山歌》於2005年榮獲香港作曲及作詞家協會(CASH)「金帆獎」本地正統音樂最廣泛演出獎項。

 

粵語合唱的先驅與推動者
何崇志熱衷以粵語譜寫合唱作品,創作數量逾百,並廣受國際演出。其中,《只有和聲》成為多個國際合唱節的主題曲,包括2017年世界青少年合唱節及2018年「一帶一路」世界合唱節。他最新的歌劇《歌王之王》更入選2021年香港電台十大樂聞之一。以其多元創作風格及對粵語音樂的熱情,何氏持續啟迪國際觀眾,並影響未來世代的作曲家,為香港音樂文化貢獻卓著。他更是粵語合唱音樂的先驅,開拓了嶄新且具深遠意義的創作領域。


國際與學術貢獻
何氏多次受邀為國際音樂節撰寫樂章,包括1999年加拿大「太平洋鋼琴比賽」、2001年加拿大CFMTA「音樂奧德賽」、2003年瑞士世界合唱研討會、2006年法國Polyfollia及2008年丹麥SongBridge等國際盛會。
在學術界,何氏曾任香港教育大學當代音樂及演奏教育學課程主任及助理教授,並於2018年至2023年期間受聘為華南師範大學客座教授。此外,自2010年起,他一直擔任香港兒童合唱團駐團作曲家。

 

Education and Early Achievements
Steve Ho earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Canada, where he received multiple accolades, including the PROCAN Composition Competition in 1987 and the CAPAC Composition Competition in 1988.

 

Film Scores and Accolades
Ho has also achieved significant success in film scoring. His music for the film My Life as McDull won the Best Original Film Score at the 21st Hong Kong Film Awards. He went on to compose for several other McDull films, including McDull, Prince de la Bun, McDull, the Alumni, McDull: Kung Fu Kindergarten, and McDull: Me & My Mum. The latter won Best Animated Feature at the 2015 Golden Horse Awards. Additionally, his large-scale choral work Cosmic Song of the Mountains received the "Golden Sail Award" for Most Performed Local Serious Music from the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong (CASH) in 2005.

 

Pioneer and Advocate for Cantonese Choral Music
Steve Ho has a profound passion for creating choral works in Cantonese, with over 100 compositions widely performed internationally. His piece Only Harmony has been featured as the theme song at several international choral festivals, including the 2017 World Youth and Children’s Choir Festival and the 2018 Belt and Road World Choir Festival. His latest opera, The King of Singers, was named one of RTHK’s Top 10 Music Headlines in 2021. Through his diverse creative style and dedication to Cantonese music, Ho continues to inspire global audiences and influence future generations of composers, making a lasting contribution to Hong Kong’s musical heritage. As a trailblazer in Cantonese choral music, he has opened new and significant creative horizons in the genre.

 

International and Academic Contributions
Steve Ho has been invited to compose for prestigious international music festivals, including the 1999 Pacific Piano Competition in Canada, the 2001 CFMTA Musical Odyssey, the 2003 World Choral Symposium in Switzerland, Polyfollia in France in 2006, and SongBridge in Denmark in 2008.
In academia, Ho served as the Director of Contemporary Music and Performance Education Programs and Assistant Professor at the Education University of Hong Kong. From 2018 to 2023, he was a Visiting Professor at South China Normal University. Since 2010, he has been the Composer-in-Residence for the Hong Kong Children’s Choir.
